Welcone to Rick's Blog
Hello, my name is Rick. I am originally from Johnstown, Pennsylvania, but I have lived in the state of Maryland, USA for the last 30 plus years. I currently live and work in the Baltimore area. I am employed by a large government contractor as an Engineering Design Drafter.
I am currently seeking a permanent Brazilian residency visa as well as employment in Brazil. My wife of nearly 20 years is a Brazilian native as well as an American citizen. Although I have traveled to Brazil several times, and loved every minute, our careers here in the United States outweighed our desire to quit our jobs and move to Brazil permanently. Now that we are both in our early sixties we have decided to retire early and make the move to Brazil, if possible.
The residency process has been an ongoing process for over a year, but hopefully 2011 will be the year we can make the move. There are basically two ways for a foreigner to legally work in Brazil. One is to already have a permanent residency visa, and two is to be hired by a foreign company and receive a work visa. My hope is that I can use this blog as a gateway for finding employment in Brazil, either before or after I receive my permanent residency visa.
Since I have not made any prior living commitments in Brazil, I would be open to accepting employment anywhere there I would be happy living. I will continue to post more information as this blog matures.

Macae
Macae, Brazil is a beach city and Petrobas Petrolium hub located about two hours north of Rio de Janeiro. The beach has a boardwalk suitable for walking, jogging and biking. Below are a few pictures I took on my visit there in November 2010.
I hope you enjoyed seeing a few pictures of Macae.
